Hello, My name is Courtney and I work for AVI Health and Community Services. 

We are a non-profit low barrier health clinic in downtown Nanaimo that serves equity-seeking populations including 2SLGBTQ+, unhoused, immigrants, people using substances, students, women, and indigenous people. 

We are hoping to start a free sewing class out of our clinic. It would be to teach gender affirming alterations to help people feel more comfortable in their body, and to encourage people to mend clothes instead of buying new. 

We are looking for donations as this program is going to be volunteer run. I was wondering if you could canvas your congregation to see if anyone has any sewing supplies at home laying around collecting dust that we could have. We're looking for everything including machines, notions, fabric, and tools. We would be happy to come to you and pick up whatever you are willing to offer.
